Job description
Are you passionate about AI technologies and digital twins? Are you driven to develop innovative AI algorithms and methods to enhance sustainability in industrial processes? Do you thrive on collaborating with high-tech companies to implement your research? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our AIMS5.0 project as a PhD candidate. We are seeking individuals with a background in operations research, mathematics, artificial intelligence, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science.
These PhD positions are funded by the AIMS5.0 European project, which aims to revolutionize the manufacturing industry through the development of AI-enabled hardware and software components across the entire value chain. With 53 industrial and academic partners, the project focuses on enhancing overall efficiency and sustainability. As a PhD candidate at TUE, your role will be to develop AI-enabled planning and scheduling methods that can adapt to the ever-changing state of manufacturing processes and the supply chain. Our industrial partners have diverse use cases, such as resource-adaptive product specifications, optimized planning for supply chain bottlenecks, efficient manufacturing of customized products in small batches, and improved traceability and root cause analysis in incident management.
At TUE, we collaborate with the Computer Science and Industrial Engineering departments, offering three PhD positions and one Postdoc position. These two PhD positions are specifically within the Industrial Engineering department. Join our team and contribute to our exploration of complex factory process modelling and the application of AI methods to solve dynamic planning, scheduling, and optimization challenges in high-tech industrial systems.
As a member of the Operations Planning, Accounting & Control group, you will collaborate closely with researchers in various areas, including operations management, transportation, manufacturing operations, reliability and maintenance. Our group is dedicated to both teaching and conducting cutting-edge research, with strong ties to the industry.
If you are excited about pushing the boundaries of AI in the manufacturing industry, apply now to become part of our forward-thinking team. Together, we can drive sustainable innovation and shape the future of Industry 5.0.
