Over £40 million has been invested in the Power Electronics and Machines Centre (PEMC) at the University of Nottingham to accelerate the adoption of electrification technologies into widespread use. This includes a 22-megawatt laboratory dedicated to research, development, manufacturing and testing of electrical machines and drives with over 170 people working in the building. The University has created Nottingham Drives Specialist Services (NDSS) to run an externally facing service to enable operation of this exciting facility on an industrial scale with a dedicated team supported by senior leadership.
The role holder will be part of NDSS and will provide operational leadership and management over the significant lab operation delivering world leading technology to customers across automotive, aerospace, marine, power generation and other sectors. The role holder will manage budgetary, resource and operational planning, process monitoring and on-going improvements to the laboratory operations in the building.
The role holder is responsible for monitoring and reporting key performance indicators and analysing feedback, data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement across the centre. Adopting and fostering a continuous improvement culture to provide effective centre operations management and a seamless service delivery. The role holder will use their initiative on a daily basis to overcome day-to-day challenges, whilst keeping the centre objectives in mind when making decisions. The role relies heavily on strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and the ability to build and maintain this rapport is critical to success.

This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
