The Department of Law of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg is looking for a Research and Development specialist (50%) to conduct research in the field of intellectual property law. The position is part of a project funded by the Fonds National de la Recherche Luxembourg (FNR) investigating the intersection of the patent system and green technologies.
Your Role…
The Research and Development specialist will be working under the supervision of Professor Martin Stierle. In particular, the R&D Specialist will:
- Conduct research on the different topics falling into the scope of the research project or related areas
- Contribute to disseminating results through publications, workshops and conferences
- Offer research assistance
- Contribute to preparing further research proposals.
The position offers the opportunity to identify a potential PhD project or work on postdoctoral research. The personal objectives of the candidate will be discussed with Professor Stierle. Teaching is not required but possible, if wanted. Depending on the profile, the position can be combined with other open part-time positions at the Faculty.
The Research and Development specialist will benefit from being part of a research group comprising several researchers working in the field of intellectual property (IP) at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance. Luxembourg is a vibrant European IP hub with its strong research profile in European IP law and the European Courts (e.g., the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European General Court, the Court of Appeal of the Unified Patent Court). Being part of the project will allow the doctoral researcher to enhance his/her research experience and strengthen his/her academic profile in IP law.
Qualifications…
We are looking for a candidate with at least a Master’s degree in Law, preferably with a specialization in intellectual property (IP) law and/or sustainability. Ph.D. holders are also welcome to apply. We are in particular searching for a candidate with the following professional and personal profile:
- Proven interest in IP law and/or sustainability
- Strong interest in legal research
- Fluency in English; a good understanding of German and/or French, will be considered an advantage
- Excellent communication and writing skills
