We are looking for an independent researcher in aerodynamics/aeroacoustics. Secondly, we seek a candidate with a strong profile in an area related to one, or linking two, of the other themes. Are you one of these persons to strengthen our group by your dedication to quality in research and teaching, your enthusiasm, and your collaborative approach ?
The chair Engineering Fluid Dynamics (EFD) carries out fundamental and applied research in Fluid Dynamics for engineering applications. Our mission is high-quality research and teaching bringing fundamental insights from physics and nature to engineering solutions for today’s societal, and technological challenges.
Our research themes are: (i) Aerodynamics/Aeroacoustics, (ii) CFD, Algorithms and Design, (iii) Fluid mechanics of Functional Materials (iv) Biophysical Fluid Dynamics, and (v) Thin Layer Flows and Lubrication. We have high level experimental facilities, such as a newly established lab for functional material research and applications, and an excellent aeroacoustic wind tunnel facility, with CTA/PIV flow measurement equipment and microphone arrays.
Diversity and inclusion are key for us to build a well-balanced group. With 10 scientific staff, 3 technical support, 15+ PhD students, and 25 MSc. students annually, we strive for novel thorough theoretical, numerical, and experimental/applied research, with academic and industrial partners. We teach Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and project education in the BSc program in Mechanical Engineering (ME). We integrate basic theory with current research. In the MSc. program we teach Advanced Fluid Mechanics, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Multiscale Functional Materials, (Aero)acoustics, Experimental Techniques, Turbomachines, and Wind Energy. We participate in the BSc. minor “Aircraft Engineering”, and lead the MSc. specializations “Aeronautics” and “Energy and Flow”. Staff members supervise BSc. and MSc. projects. We lead the Double Degree program Mechanical Engineering/Aeronautical Engineering with the Aeronautical Institute ITA in Brazil.

Are you one of these persons to strengthen our group by your dedication to quality in research and teaching, your enthusiasm, and your collaborative approach?
Research: You aim to do groundbreaking in-depth research with a clear view on engineering applications. You identify relevant research questions and independently conduct and report theoretical as well as experimental research. You actively pursue external funding for people and facilities, and in time develop your research line embedded in the group. You are eager to publish in peer-refereed journals, and coach junior researchers to do likewise.
Teaching: You are an enthusiastic teacher willing to participate in the BSc. and MSc. education, and are open to new developments in STEM education, such as challenge/project based learning, and game based learning. You will join our team in existing courses, coordinate (student) projects, and from there build your teaching portfolio including a contribution in the MSc. program. Besides this, you formulate and supervise BSc. and MSc. projects.
