We are looking for an assistant (f/m/d, full-time or part-time) with excellent knowledge of English and a second primate host country language 

The Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology unites scientists with various backgrounds (natural sciences and humanities) whose aim is to investigate the history of humankind from an interdisciplinary perspective with the help of comparative analyses of genes, cultures, cognitive abilities, languages and social systems of past and present human populations as well as those of primates closely related to human beings.

We are looking for an assistant (f/m/d, full-time or part-time) with excellent knowledge of English and a second primate host country language (e.g., Spanish, French)  to support the director Prof. Jenny Tung in the Department of Primate Behavior and Evolution.

Your tasks

You will support the Director in all relevant administrative and organizational matters. These include organizing the office, budget control, utilization of space, project management of field sites, organization and follow-up of appointments and trips, maintenance of databases.

Your profile

We expect a committed, loyal and friendly person, with administrative training, organizational skills and a high level of service orientation. We require you to be fully conversant with the MS Office package and have excellent verbal and written skills in German and English, and preferably also in a third primate host country language. Professional experience in a comparable position is desirable, preferably in an academic institution. We expect excellent communication skills, a sense of responsibility, organizational skills, an independent and solution-oriented way of working and a high degree of team spirit.

The position is available from 1 May 2022, though a later start may be negotiated. Part-time working may be agreed. The position is initially limited to 2 years. Following that, a permanent contract is possible, subject to a successful review. The position is funded according to the German TVöD pay scale.
