The statistics research group at the University of Twente invites applications for a fully funded  PhD position in statistics. The successful PhD candidate will conduct research with respect to the statistical theory of  time series analysis.

In particular, you will work on multiscale characterizations of multivariate correlated observations through ordinal pattern analysis.

The analysis of multivariate and high-dimensional time series has become increasingly important and faces theoretical and practical challenges due to the massive production of temporally dependent data in fields such as macroeconomics, finance, genomics, or neuroscience. In the context of the advertised PhD position, this makes way for interdisciplinary collaborations with, e.g., the biomedical signals and systems group at University of Twente.

YOUR PROFILE

  • You are an enthusiastic and highly motivated researcher.
  • You have, or will shortly, acquire a master degree in the field of Statistics or Mathematics.
  • You have a creative mindset and excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • You have a good team spirit and like to work in an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented environment.
  • Background knowledge in at least one of the above mentioned topics will be valued.
  • You are fluent in English.

  • As a PhD student at UT, you will be appointed to a full-time position for four years, with a qualifier in the first year, within a very stimulating and exciting scientific environment;
