Job Summary

The Schools of Engineering Education and Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University are collaborating on a research project to develop policy innovations to enhance the STEM talent workforce. We invite applications for a postdoctoral research scholar to help conduct research related to the educational pathways of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students from K-12 to postgraduate studies. In addition to modeling STEM students’ educational paths, this project will focus on entry into STEM careers to identify critical policy and programmatic levers to increase the STEM workforce. Thus, this project emphasizes research to policy connections toward enhancing the STEM talent pool.

The postdoctoral research scholar will help model STEM student academic pathways, as well as model entry into STEM careers, using large scale datasets. This may entail data analyses and visualizations, formulating conceptual models, programming computational models, and empirical evaluation of resulting models. The postdoctoral scholar is expected to engage in research design, data curation, mentoring and teamwork, and communication and writing of research findings through white papers, policy briefs, peer-reviewed journal publications, conference presentations, and meetings with stakeholders.

This is a full-time, one-year appointment with potential for an extension of up to two additional years, contingent on performance and funding. The anticipated start date is August 15, 2021, but is flexible.
