At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Planning, a PhD stipend is available within the general study programme Planning and Development. The stipend is open for appointment from 1 September 2022 or soon hereafter. The Department of Planning conducts research and teaching on development and planning in a broad sense, including social science aspects as well as more technical aspects of development, and with a focus on environmental, international as well as administrative dimensions.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The PhD project will center on determination of property boundaries and especially the redetermination of existing properties. The current legislation on this and the main studies of determination of property boundaries are old and in the meantime surveying methods have changed significantly and society in general has developed. Thus, praxis has followed but theory, evaluation, and systematic investigation to support praxis is missing. There is there for a need to uncover how things are done today, and possibly further to make evidence-based recommendations about how it could or should be done? Several approaches are possible within this main framing.

The ideal candidate for this project has good academic qualifications, strong self-motivation, and a true interest in research informing the field of Surveying, Planning and Land Management. The candidate should ideally have a background as surveyor (cand.geom) or closely related background. Key requisites for the position, are also the capacity to plan and work autonomously. Documented experience with any study project within property formation and determination of property boundaries will be considered a plus. Proficiency in Danish is a requirement, due to the nature of the possible empirical data.

The candidate will be associated with the research group Land Management & Governance and will have base in Aalborg.
