General information

Education and Student Affairs (ESA) is the central service for prospective students and those already enrolled at Eindhoven University of Technology. It provides a broad range of services, including student enrollment, help choosing the right study program, various types of training (e.g. study skills), and the execution of ICT programs for education (e.g. video lectures and the notebook project). ESA also provides language training in Academic English and Dutch as a second language (NT2) and language support. Moreover, ESA offers individual coaching for students with personal problems, advice to students wanting to study abroad, student financial support, and mediation regarding grants and scholarships.

Student Facilities is part of ESA and consists of four teams: Student Coaching, Counseling & Information, TU/e Language Center, Career Center & Professional Skills and the Planning & Support Center.

TU/e Language Center

The TU/e Language Center (TLC) offers courses in the fields of Academic Writing and Professional English and Dutch as a second language (NT2) for students and staff members at the TU/e.

We are a small, enthusiastic team teaching and coaching academic writing in English to bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students, professional writing in English for PDEngs, English language classes for support staff, and Dutch language classes for students and staff.

We are searching for a motivated writing teacher/coach who would be willing to work with us for a period of six months (mid-August 2022 to mid-February 2023; fixed-term contract: maternity cover, preferably 0.8 fte but less fte is negotiable) to help out with our bachelor’s and master’s writing workshops and courses in English. Overall, we understand academic writing as a communication skill and aim to equip our students with the competency to write readable and well-argued texts for an academic audience. Thus, we are looking for someone passionate about texts, the writing process, and helping students on their academic writing learning pathway.

Job requirements

  • University graduate (master’s level and higher);
  • Experience in teaching/coaching university students;
  • Knowledge about the writing process;
  • Experience in teaching/coaching academic writing;
  • Experience in providing feedback on students’ academic writing;
  • Open to working with technical/engineering texts.

Conditions of employment

The appointment will be for a period of six months. The appointment may be carried out by Euflex, which is the internal temporary employment and secondment agency of Eindhoven University of Technology.

The salary for a full-time contract ranges between €2.960,- and €5.439,- gross per month (salary scale 10 or 11 CAO Dutch Universities), based on education and experience. The TU/e offers a broad package of fringe benefits, for instance a year-end bonus of 8.3%, holiday allowance of 8% and excellent sport facilities.
