YOUR TEAM

You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where computational scientists (Machine Learning, Computer Vision, image processing, big data and high performance computing), material engineers, chemists, physicists, and archaeologists collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research.

The Center for Cultural Heritage Technology (CCHT) in Venice is coordinated by Arianna Traviglia, who has extensive experience in mediating the inclusion of technology within the study and management of cultural heritage and in cultural landscape management.

Research at CCHT focuses on promoting cutting-edge technologies and approaches for analysis and recording of Cultural Heritage, including the automation of digitization of heritage objects and image processing.

Within the team, your main responsibilities will be to consolidate CCHT expertise in the development of next generation computer vision/3D digitization approaches applied to the Cultural Heritage (CH) and Digital Humanities (DH) domains.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D. in computer science or a related field with specialization in Computer Vision/3D/ML and +1 years CV/ML experience outside PhD, OR demonstrated similar experience;
  • Documented experience in 3D computer vision (for example, but not limited to, 3D reconstruction from RGBD data, photometric stereo, structure from motion, structured light systems, etc.)
  • Relevant experience in the development 3D reconstruction and scene understanding systems by using an active camera.
  • Proficiency with programming Python andC/C++);
  • Knowledge of OpenCV, PCL and Open3D libraries;
  • Proficiency in English language (written and oral).

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

  • Experience in 3D reconstruction and scene understanding system for indoor environments;
  • A strong publication record with a relevant scientific track record on major ML and/or CV conferences/journals (e.g. NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, ECCVTPAMI,
  • Experience in grant proposal preparation at National and/or European level;
