The Department of Surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is inviting applications for a permanent full-time position as a neuro-oncology surgeon. The effective date of this appointment is flexible, tentatively aiming for July 1, 2024-5

We are seeking an academic full time faculty neurosurgeon with fellowship training in surgical neuro-oncology. The successful candidate should have strong track-record of research aligned with this clinical focus and is anticipated to have at minimum, 50% of their time committed to research pursuits. The candidate will join a Division of Neurosurgery with focus on neuro-oncology with an affiliation with the Odette Cancer Program, the sixth largest cancer program in North America.

The successful candidate should have advanced training and skills in neuro-oncology through formal fellowship training and graduate level training in a relevant area of research that is aligned with Sunnybrook Research Institute’s programs or platforms in evaluative clinical sciences, biological sciences or the physical sciences (https://sunnybrook.ca/research/). As a surgeon-scientist/investigator, the successful candidate will be expected to develop a research profile and contribute to the academic mission of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. As a member of the Department of Surgery and the University of Toronto, the candidate is expected to participate in education of learners at all levels. Our division is building upon current strong collegial and supportive team work of all neurosurgeons. Therefore, being a team player, collaborator and caring is an essential attribute for successful candidate.

The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor at the University of Toronto and for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

The Division of Neurosurgery at Sunnybrook hospital is a rich academic center know for strength in bringing innovative technology to clinical practice and leading multi-center clinical trials. The Division has established subspecialty practice in vascular, oncology/skull base, spine and functional neurosurgery and is recognized as a world leader in clinical applications of High-Frequency Focused Ultrasound relevant to neuro-oncology. Our close collaboration with Odette cancer center at Sunnybrook allows us to play leadership role in the Ontario healthcare system through our neuro-oncology program.
