Aalto University’s Aalto Studios is the media centre of the future. It facilitates education, research and artistic activities in film and TV, games and animation, VR/AR/MR, motion- and data capture, digitalization of teaching and fast prototyping. Our new facilities will be built on Aalto Otaniemi Campus by 2024.
Aalto Studios is looking for an audio and post-production technician. This is a fixed- term position (2 years), starting on 01.10.2022.
Sound and technology are your passions. You can name the series and films with best sound design by the decade from the top of your head. You already know the technical specs of the microphones that came to market this year. You are as comfortable in the field or a studio as you are in post-production suites. You are a self-starter, but can also work as a part of a bigger team.
Your role and goals
Aalto Studios Audio and Post-Production Technicians are in charge of the audio facilities and resources that Aalto Studios operates. Our audio resource portfolio includes everything from individual microphones to fully-fledged master mixing suites. Our Audio and Post-Production Technicians make sure that everything is working properly and help and guide our students, faculty and external users to get the most out of our amazing facilities. To succeed in this role you need extensive knowledge of audio post-production hardware (Avid Consoles, microphones, etc.) and software (Pro Tools, various plugins, Dante, etc.) and audio field equipment. Our technicians are in charge of the regular system updates, problem shooting and resolving, customer help and customer induction sessions. Our students and faculty come from diverse backgrounds and nationalities. Therefore good communication skills are of outmost importance. Sound and Post-Productions Technicians are part of Aalto Studios AV and Tech team that consists of AV-specialists who with their expertise help Aalto to excel in providing world-class education, research and productions.
Your experience and ambitions
- You are passionate about audio and the latest AV technologies
- Expertise in AVID systems and Pro Tools systems
- Expertise in different audio recording and editing techniques and technologies
- Fluency in digital tools and multiple DAWs
- Fluency with networked productions systems (Dante experience preferred)
- Excellent customer service skills
- You have a can-do attitude
- You can work independently and as a team player
- Proficiency in English. Finnish proficiency is considered an advantage.

Salary is internationally competitive with other universities and Aalto University provides health care benefits. The position’s pay grade is at level 8 (Other personnel) in Finnish Universities’ pay grade system, depending on the experience and skill level of the candidate.
