Course number and title: APD3217Y – Advanced Practicum in Clinical and Counselling Psychology

Course description: A course aimed at the further enhancement of counselling skills through the integration of clinical experience and research. PhD and EdD students in Counselling Psychology are required to complete a 500 hour practicum field placement in conjunction with this course. All students must arrange their practica in consultation with the Department’s Coordinator of Internships and Counselling Services. Continuing students should plan to contact the Coordinator by March 15 (preferably earlier) and new students as soon as they have been notified of their acceptance to the program.

Salary: As of September 1, 2022, the minimum stipend is $8,489.67 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. As of January 1, 2023, the minimum stipend is $8,489.67 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage.

Minimum Qualifications:

1 – Candidate must have a doctoral degree in counselling or clinical psychology or a related field;                        

2 – Must be registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario;

3 – Experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching graduate courses;

4 – Counselling or clinical psychology supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

1 – Individuals with demonstrated expertise with related course content and prior graduate teaching;

2 – Demonstrated scholarship in the area of the course topic;

3 – Ability to collaborate with experienced teachers and community members.

Description of duties:

1 – Teach a minimum of 72 hours.

2 – Prepare teaching resources for each class and provide relevant materials.

3 – Assess and evaluate students’ work and provide a final course grade according to OISE/UT grading practices.

4 – Be available for informal meetings/communications with students as necessary.
