Course number and title: EAS201H1F – Modern Chinese II for Students with Prior Background
Course description: This course is a continuation of EAS101Y1. It focuses on development of students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills at a low intermediate level. Students who do not meet the prerequisite must go through placement process conducted by the Department. See www.eas.utoronto.ca/languages/chinese for details.

Class schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays, 5 pm – 7 pm

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022
Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I = $8,489.67
Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term = $8,869.25
Sessional Lecturer II = $9,085.58
Sessional Lecturer III = $9,301.90
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications: Completed MA in areas related to the course required; fluency in Mandarin required; an ability to clearly communicate information required; willingness to replicate the pedagogy and evaluation techniques employed in the regular teaching of this course required.
Preferred qualifications: PhD in areas related to the course preferred; experience teaching language at the post-secondary level preferred. Experience teaching online preferred.
Description of duties: Preparing lesson plans and lectures; delivering lectures; developing and administering grading, course assignments, tests, and exams; and providing scheduled online and in-person office hours for academic counselling of students.
