Course Title: PHY241H5S: Electromagnetism
Course Description: Topics in electricity and magnetism, beginning with vector analysis and culminating in Maxwell’s equations. Electric fields and Gauss’ law, conductors, capacitors and dielectrics. Magnetic fields, magnetic materials and devices, induction and Faraday’s law. Maxwell’s equations and electromagnetic waves are introduced. [24L, 16P, 8T]

Dates of appointment: 02 January 2023 to 30 April 2023.
Salary: $8,489.67 (Sessional Lecturer I); $8,869.25 (Sessional Lecturer I Long Term); $9,085.58 (Sessional Lecturer II); $9,301.90 (Sessional Lecturer III). Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in relevant area of Physics. Currency and mastery of subject area required. Past teaching experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching same or similar course.
Description of Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including but not limited to preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations, calculations and submission of grades, provide direction and supervision of TA’s, and holding regular office hours.
