The Department of Management Studies offers a dynamic environment for scholarship and learning, where cutting-edge research underpins high-quality teaching. The department educates strategic leaders with a strong ethical mindset for the contemporary global business environments. The research is mainly focused on advancing knowledge and critical scholarship in the broader field of management and organization studies.

The IDBM (International Design Business Management) curriculum integrates business, design and technology to enable students to lead multidisciplinary radical creativity. Graduates of the program earn a master’s degree in business, design or technology, and gain extensive transdisciplinary teamwork experience that enables them to work in a wide variety of fields. The program is shared with the school of ARTS and Business.

We are now looking for a

University Teacher for the International Design Business Management program.

The position is a fixed term and for one year. The appointment is expected to begin in September 2022, but the dates of the employment relationship can be negotiated.

Your role and goals

As a University Teacher you have individual course responsibilities and together with other faculty responsibilities in the development and administration of the programme. Courses cover different aspects for leading for creativity, and integrate design knowledge to business and technology contexts. You will also participate in developing the curricula and courses as part of IDBM faculty and the Department of Design. Moreover, you will participate in the supervision of thesis works and take part in student selection.

Your network and team

You will be working intensively with the IDBM faculty, Department of Design (Aalto ARTS), Department of Management Studies (Aalto BIZ) and also with different colleagues from all Aalto schools in true interdisciplinary manner.

Your experience and ambitions

Applicants are expected to have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in a relevant field. You also need extensive teaching experience and experience in developing curricula in higher education. The applicants are also expected to have experience in leading or teaching business model development, innovation management, or design management. A doctoral degree in a relevant field is considered as a merit.

The salary is determined based on experience and qualifications according to the salary system of Aalto University. The position is located in Otaniemi, Espoo, in a new campus building made and designed for the School of ARTS and the School of Business.
