The Department of law of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg is looking for a PhD candidate to conduct research in law.

The doctoral researcher will be working under the supervision of Professor André Prüm.

Your Role…

The doctoral researcher’s main task will be to prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of company law, banking and financial law or contract law. The research should embrace a comparative approach of different legal systems including Luxembourg law. Aside from the themes mentioned above, the research can also concentrate on the specific structures and features of the Luxembourg legal system.

The PhD manuscript can be written in English or in French.

The thesis work will be undertaken at the University of Luxembourg but can also be jointly-supervised with another university.

The doctoral candidate will contribute to the teaching of classes ranging from one to three hours per week, of small group teachings and tutorials.

The doctoral researcher will benefit from being part of large research group comprising several PhDs and Postdoctoral Researchers working on related topics. Being part of this environment will allow the doctoral researcher to enhance his/her knowledge-base and experience; working on the various aspects of the project will not only strengthen his/her academic profile, but also give him/her access to (and the chance to critically engage with) some of the most renowned experts in the field.

Qualifications…

We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated interest in comparative law, research integrating an interdisciplinary approach and/or empirical method. In particular, the following requirements apply:

  • A Master’s Degree in law
  • Have the linguistic skills to evolve in a multilingual environment: fluency in English and French, and possibly a third language, German in particular, will be considered an advantage
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
