SnT is a leading international research and innovation centre in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT systems and services. We play an instrumental role in Luxembourg by fueling innovation through research partnerships with industry, boosting R&D investments leading to economic growth, and attracting highly qualified talent.
We’re looking for people driven by excellence, excited about innovation, and looking to make a difference. If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place!
Your Role…
The successful candidate will join the recently established Signal Processing Applications in Radar and Communications research group (SPARC), led by Prof. Bhavani Shankar M R. The SPARC group conducts research on topics such as the design and optimization of networked MIMO radar systems, integrated sensing and communications, automotive radars, opportunistic sensing using satellite systems, indoor sensing, as well as evolving and emerging applications of radar signal processing in fields such as biomedicine and environmental sensing. The group conducts research in collaboration with long term partner IEE (www.iee.lu).
With the proliferation of radar applications beyond the defense arena, the SPARC group is currently looking to explore relevant fundamental research questions, create opportunities and innovation, demonstrate as well as get involved in increasingly bigger technical challenges. Our goal is to establish a signal processing center of excellence for radar systems. To that end, we are seeking a strong applicant with proven expertise in both academia and industry, excellent publication record in MIMO radar systems, experience in supervising PhD students, managing collaborative projects and teaching.
The research focus would be on:
- Expand the frontiers in the ongoing activities in MIMO radar design, optimization and implementation
- Take the lead in expanding research portfolio through new research lines e.g., metacognition in radar
- Acquiring projects to expand group’s activities
- Supervision of Doctoral candidates and mentoring of Post-Doctoral researchers
- Liaison with industrial partners
- Radar System Design, Implementation, and prototyping using USRPs, SDR, and mmWave COTS
Your Profile…
Qualification:
- A Ph.D. degree in Telecommunication Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or Computer Science/engineering with a focus relevant to the position
- Proven research track record with publications in MIMO radar systems and signal processing, MIMO radar waveform design and optimization, and MIMO radar prototyping for traditional and emerging sensing applications including integrated sensing and communications, environmental sensing and indoor sensing.
- Experience of supervising/ co-supervising PhD student(s)
- Proven record of research project management and liaison with industry
- Experience of writing national/international research funding proposal(s)
- Experience of teaching relevant course(s) on Radar signal processing
- Proven hands-on and practical experience in radar sensors (mmWave) and systems
- Hands on experience of USRPs and LabView NXG for rapid prototyping
Experience: The ideal candidate should have good theoretical background in a number of the following topics:
- Understanding of contemporary and metacognitive MIMO radar systems
- MIMO radar Waveform design and various optimization approaches
- Signal processing algorithms for colocated/ distributed mmWave (and beyond) MIMO radars with a applications in indoor sensing including interference analysis, tracking and classification
- Expertise and experience with integrated radar and communications systems
Development Skills: MATLAB, LabView NXG, Python, and C++
Language Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
