What does this job entail

As a Policy Officer you will primarily have a role in the area of education and quality assurance. We closely monitor the quality of our education, through student evaluations, panel meetings, feedback on assessments and with the help of the Examinations Board, a test expert and the Programme Committee. You will safeguard these various processes by making sure everything is administered correctly and relevant staff members are informed.
 

Your tasks:

  • ensuring the quality assurance cycle of the programme;
  • active monitoring of developments in the field of university and faculty education policy and regulations;
  • supporting and advising programme management with regard to assessment and quality assurance;
  • identifying and implementing improvement processes in the field of education and quality assurance;
  • go to person for educational policy in the programme and, to this end, maintaining relations and participating in consultative structures with relevant colleagues and representative bodies at faculty level;
  • support the PPLE Dean in preparing and drafting the annual plan;
  • providing support for re-accreditation and visitation processes of the programme;
  • managing the annual teaching and examinations regulations process (TER/OER in Dutch);
  • playing an active role in quality assurance cycle (coordinating student evaluations, panel meetings, feedback on assessments, etc.);
  • reviewing PPLE policy regarding quality assurance;
  • working closely with the Examinations Board and the Programme Committee regarding PPLE policy;
  • being involved in other policy tasks, in close cooperation with the Programme Manager.
  • analysing and reporting course-related data, such as GPA, pass rates, etc.

What do you have to offer? 

  • a bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred;
  • a minimum of two years relevant work experience as policy or quality assurance officer;
  • experience in working in inter/multidisciplinary education;
  • excellent written and spoken command of Dutch and English;
  • excellent organisational and communications skills;
  • a proactive, independent and flexible organiser and self-igniting team player;
  • a non-conformist and out-of-the-box work ethic with a meticulous attention to detail.

Our offer

We offer an employment contract for one year with a probationary period of two months, preferably starting on 1 September 2022. If you and the job prove to be a good match, then a permanent employment contract is possible. The employment contract is for 22,8 hours a week (0.6 fte).

Your salary, depending on your relevant experience on commencement of the employment contract, ranges between €2.960 to €4.670 gross per month on the basis of a full working week of 38 hours. This sum does not include the 8% holiday allowance and the 8.3% year-end allowance. The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU) is applicable.

PPLE College at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) offers an interdisciplinary, research-based, English taught bachelor programme in Politics, Psychology, Law & Economics (PPLE).

PPLE College offers students an academic programme focused on the challenges science and society face at the intersections of its four disciplines.
