We are currently looking for two Academic Programs Coordinators (38 hours p/w) to join the Academics team, who coordinate the academic program of our students together with our partner universities. The ideal candidate has some experiencing in the international education sector and/or experience with one of our partner universities (UvA, VU, CvA), speaks both Dutch & English, is comfortable navigating young university student issues with empathy, and doesn’t mind working a few evenings or weekends.  

What are you going to do

The key areas of responsibilities for this position are to: 

  • Coordinate and implement the Social Sciences and Humanities program in cooperation with the Universiteit van Amsterdam and our Direct Enrollment program at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and/or 
  • Coordinate and implement the Business&Economics, Law&Criminology and Psychology&Sciences programs in cooperation with the Vrije Universiteit 
  • Act as a liaison with our contact persons at the UvA, CvA and/or VU as well as colleagues at IES Abroad in Chicago and students 
  • Advise students about their academic curriculum in Amsterdam 
  • Manage the course registration processes for students 
  • Manage residency permit and entry-visa processes for all programs, together with student services at UvA, CvA and VU 
  • Coordinate academic accommodations that a student may require 
  • Prepare and present academic orientation and provide academic guidance and support to students 
  • Support the organization of short-term customized programs 
  • Arrange a comprehensive orientation and extracurricular program each semester together with colleagues

The post requires a strong interest in international education and intercultural development and the ability to work with students from a variety of backgrounds. The flexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings and a willingness to carry an emergency telephone during off-duty hours (on a rotation basis, toil offered for any work outside of office hours) are also required. Your experience and profile:

  • Minimum BSc/BA degree  
  • Minimum 1-2 years relevant experience in international education or related field  
  • Superior oral and written communication skills in both Dutch and English 
  • Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail  
  • Excellent human & interpersonal (communication) skills  
  • Understanding of American and/or Asian higher education
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Flexible and adaptable personality suited to working in a small team with the ability to work independently  
  • Ability to work legally in the Netherlands  
  • For international candidates, previous experience living and/or working in the Netherlands  
  • Prior experience with university students from the US, China, Korea or Japan is a definite plus 
  • Prior experience with the Universiteit van Amsterdam or Vrije Universiteit (work and/or study) is preferred  

What can we offer you

The position concerns employment of 38 hours per week. The initial employment is for one year. With possibility to extend.

Depending on your experience, the minimum salary is €2.400 and the maximum salary is €2.600 gross per month based on a 38-hour working week.

We additionally offer an extensive package of secondary benefits, including 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8%.
