This post presents an opportunity for an exceptional cognitive neuroscientist with a commitment to fostering a research and learning community that is as collegial and inclusive as it is innovative. In terms of the discipline, you will have a track record of high-quality research in an area of Cognitive Neuroscience that complements and extends our existing specialisms enabling enhanced broad-spectrum psychology research, along with the academic standing and strategic vision to take forward new directions for our discipline.

In our School of Psychology at Surrey, we are committed to basic and applied research for the benefit of society through our enterprising and forward-thinking spirit as well as research-led teaching.

Working collaboratively at the University level we are embracing the broader themes of:

  • One Health-One Medicine.
  • Healthy Aging and Supporting Long-term Conditions.
  • Urban Living, Sustainability.
  • People-focussed AI.

Our strong connections with the BPS, business and NHS enrich the curriculum and make a significant contribution to the School’s research and the high rates of employment for Surrey’s Psychology graduates.

We have a strong track record of innovation in Psychology, from discoveries in cognitive psychology, to establishing novel programmes in Environmental Psychology and Clinical Doctorates to the shaping of cross-European approaches to food labelling. The Brain and Behaviour section includes pioneering research in neuromodulation in typical and atypical populations, development of biomarkers, and the gut-brain axis.

The future of Psychology at Surrey is supported by ongoing investment across our people and infrastructure; for example, we recently opened our 6-room extended reality (XRL) simulation space to allow exciting possibilities for novel research (including mobile tES/EEG/fNIRS) in cognitive neuroscience and other areas, and two observation suites.

We actively encourage international applicants to move to Surrey and where visa/CoS is required, we will partner you through the sponsorship process along with providing an attractive relocation package.

With your application, please attach a full CV along and a cover letter containing details of your five-year research plan. You are welcome to contact the Head of School, Prof Roi Cohen Kadosh (r.cohenkadosh@surrey.ac.uk) if you would like to discuss your candidacy or the role in more depth.
