We are looking for an enthousiastic and ambitious Liaison Officer who will represent UU/UMCU in this Alliance on the Preventive Health domain. Together with the liaison officers of the two partner institutes (TU/e and WUR) you aim to gain a competitive position in the (inter-)national Preventive Health research landscape for the EWUU Alliance:

  • map ongoing research activities in this domain and recognize overlapping and complementary areas;
  • identify opportunities where scientific progress and innovation can be achieved together based on connecting to the expertise in the organization and externally;
  • identify opportunities where scientific progress and innovation can be achieved together based on connecting to the expertise in the organization and externally;
  • explore possibilities to establish common research projects and programs by building consortia for successful proposals to be funded nationally and by European research funds;
  • establish groundbreaking, substantial, and iconic collaboration amongst internal and external partners;
  • enthuse and support researchers to participate in the activities and opportunities offered by this Alliance;
  • advocate the added value of this Alliance both internally and externally;
  • Report on progress and achievements of the Alliance.

At UU/UMCU, you will be based in the group of Roel Vermeulen/ Niek de Wit which focuses on Preventive Health.

Qualifications

Since the EWUU Alliance is still in launching phase, we are looking for someone:

  • who has a clear vision on the opportunities offered by the membership in this Alliance; 
  • who is experienced in shaping good team dynamics, crossing corporate cultures;
  • having an independent working attitude, at the same time being a real team player (the team you will be working with currently consists of the team lead located at WUR, 1 liaison officer at TU/e, 1 admin support at WUR. The aim is to expand this team in 2022 with research line managers, marcom & finance supports );
  • able to build networks, taking into account commercial aspects;
  • having excellent communication, negotiation, collaborative and facilitation skills;
  • having decision capacities, taking into corporate strategies.

Given the focus area on Preventive Health for this position you need to:

  • have demonstrable expertise of Preventive Health and affinity with the health domain in general;
  • be familiar with the organizations of UU and UMCU and their research areas;
  • have a MSc/PhD degree in a relevant background such as life sciences, nutrition, social sciences, technical science and have management experience;
  • have sufficient contacts and affinity within Preventive Health related groups within UU and UMCU.

Offer

We offer a temporary position (0.8 FTE) for one year in an international working environment. The gross salary – depending on previous qualifications and experience  – ranges between €3.974 and €5.439 (scale 11 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. After a positive evaluation, the agreement will be extended. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year.
