Description:

Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Biology

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in the Department of Biology at the University of Winnipeg, Canada. The research will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Anuraag Shrivastav.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who will join a research project funded by the Innovation Proof of Concept grant from Research Manitoba.

The appointment is for a ~22-month full-time term, with a tentative expected start date of January 2, 2023. There is also a possibility of extension on the condition of external funding.

Project Description

The Postdoctoral Fellow will join a vibrant translational research program in cancer diagnostics and therapeutics. Research in “Shrivastav Lab” aims at understanding alterations in the signaling pathway leading to the onset and progression of cancer, especially those of the colon and breast. These altered signaling molecules also provide an excellent opportunity for developing therapeutics and diagnostics. Dr. Shrivastav’s group has identified mechanisms associated with metastases, which is the basis of the core technology platform that has resulted in unique molecular signatures specific to different cancer types. The platform technology has led to the development of predictive, prognostic, and companion diagnostics for breast cancer treatment response and targeted therapies. The objectives of the research project are to validate – the blood-based colorectal cancer screening test, breast cancer predictive test, and development of targeted therapies for metastatic cancers such as triple-negative breast cancer.

We seek a highly motivated, enthusiastic candidate who has received a Ph.D. in cancer biology or a related discipline. Candidates must have experience in molecular biology and flow cytometry. Experience and knowledge in tumor immunology will be considered an asset. The applicant should have excellent organizational, communication, data analysis, and writing skills, record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields to this project, and an interest in working as part of a collaborative team.

Application Process:

Interested candidates should send:

  • a cover letter
  • a current curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Copies of educational certificates
  • a research statement (max 1 page)
  • the names and contact details of two to three references (references will only be contacted for short-listed candidates)

Applicants must submit all of the above materials through The University of Winnipeg’s online recruitment system. Please click on the “Apply” button below to submit your application.

Deadline to Apply: November 30, 2022
