About Malmö University
Malmö University is an innovative, urban and international institute of higher education, located in the centre of Malmö. We have around 1,800 employees and 24,000 students. Our research and education are characterised by the role we believe a university should play in an open society — to contribute to sustainability and equality in a scientifically grounded way with external partners and stakeholders. Identifying and addressing the challenges of the future are of highest priority. Our researchers and students work collaboratively to create, share and spread knowledge in order to understand, explain and develop society — both locally and globally.
The Faculty of Technology and Society conducts education and research focusing on technology and natural sciences at two departments: Computer Science and Media Technology and Materials Science and Applied Mathematics. The faculty collaborates with companies and other organisations in order to raise the level of competence, create new products, develop activities and offer students an early connection to their future working life. Our research collaborations and staff from many different countries give our activities an international profile.
The Department of Computer Science and Media Technology offers research-linked education at first-cycle, second-cycle and doctoral levels. The department conducts research in computer science, information systems, software engineering and media technology. We are interested in research and education areas such as artificial intelligence, digital media, e-health, internet of things and game development.
Department of Computer Science and Media Technology
A postdoctoral researcher is primarily employed to conduct research. Teaching may also be included in the duties, though it may at most constitute a fifth of the total time.
The position concerns the use of AI, edge computing and software architecture for realizing Intelligent and Trustworthy IoT Systems. The research will be conducted in collaboration with industry partners.
There will be special focus on the application of such IoT systems in buildings, in particular on methods for developing digital twins and semantic maps of the environment in the building domain by using multimodal modes of data, such as, visual data from cameras, mobile devices, and other IoT sensors while also considering relevant system qualities. This provides a perception and state of the environment by sensing the surroundings, location, and object detection, as well as location-based-services, e.g. monitoring, tracking, and configuration. Machine learning approaches will be explored for managing computational redundancy via adaptive software and architectures, as well as high dimensional real-time anomaly detection. In the project, collaboration with industrial partners will be central.
A person who has completed a doctoral degree or a foreign degree considered on par with a doctoral degree shall be qualified for employment as a postdoctoral researcher. Primary consideration should be given to a person who has been awarded a PhD or achieved the equivalent expertise within three years. When calculating the three-year time frame, the starting point is the application deadline. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree may have been completed at an earlier date. Special circumstances constitute time off because of illness, parental leave, clinical practice, union duties, or assignments relevant to the subject area.
