Wageningen Economic Research is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Data Compliance Specialist to join our research institute. Data is at the core of our institute, as Wageningen Economic Research provides data-based insights for strategic policy and decision-making, monitoring, reporting, scientific research, and innovation. This helps our customers to create more value for their organisation, clients and partners, the environment, citizens and society.

As Data Compliance Specialist you are responsible for definition and implementation of data management policies for our research. In addition, you are the primary point of contact for researchers to assist them in implementing these policies in their research projects.

You will work closely with the Information Security Officer and the Privacy Officer to ensure that data management policies are in compliance with relevant regulations and standards. As a Data Compliance Specialist you will also participate in relevant communities within WUR to stay up-to-date with developments in data management that may improve our policies and processes.

Responsibilities:
 

  • Develop and implement data management policies, procedures, and guidelines that comply with institutional and regulatory requirements, while also aligning with the policies and guidelines of WUR
  • Collaborate with researchers to understand their data management needs and provide guidance on best practices for managing research data
  • Support researchers in documenting, organizing, and storing research data in a secure and accessible manner
  • Design and deliver training programs for researchers on data management practices and tools
  • Monitor compliance with data management policies and procedures and provide guidance to ensure adherence to institutional and regulatory requirements
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in data management best practices, standards, and regulations, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Contribute to project acquisition efforts by evaluating the data management requirements and transforming them into a well-suited proposal.

Your qualities

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as data management or information science
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in research data management, preferably in a research or academic environment
  • Experience in developing and implementing data management policies and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of data management best practices, standards, and regulations, such as FAIR and GDPR
  • Experience with data management tools and platforms, such as data repositories and metadata standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with researchers and other stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy

In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level C1. If you do not yet have this level, we will of course help you and you can go to our language center Wageningen in’to Language.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 3.527,- and € 5.479,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 11). You will initially receive two times an one-year contract, which will be extended to an open-ended contract upon in mutual enthusiasm.
