The Marketing and Consumer Behaviour Group (MCB) at Wageningen University and Research is looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious lecturer in marketing and consumer research to join their team. The position contains an essential role within our curricular (marketing) education and within the supervision of bachelor thesis, master thesis, and research internship students, and may develop into other future possibilities within the group.

As a lecturer, you are devoted to, and have the relevant background needed, to educate students in advanced marketing theories, in applying marketing theories in solving societal problems, and in developing research projects (including theory application and data collection) related to marketing and consumer behavior. The focus of our teaching is to train students to develop research projects where they can solve real-life problems by applying theories and collecting and analyzing data related to marketing and consumer behavior. The successful applicant will make an essential contribution to this development, and will organize courses, deliver lectures, and give tutorials. In this position you will be given the opportunity to attain the nationally recognized Dutch university teaching qualification.

Your responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics such as strategic marketing, principles of marketing, marketing theory and consumer studies;
  • Evaluate and grade students’ class work, assignments, and papers;
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions, focusing on students;
  • Prepare course materials, such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts;
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional organizations and conferences.

Your qualities

The ideal candidate is expected to have the following qualities:

  • A PhD degree (or planned defense date) in marketing, consumer behaviour, or related fields (e.g., economics or management studies);
  • Affinity with marketing science or business marketing;
  • Affinity with societally relevant science on topics such as sustainability, health, food and agribusiness;
  • An interest in student-focused teaching;
  • An excellent English language proficiency (a minimum of CEFR C2 level). For more information about this proficiency level, please visit our special language page;
  • Knowledge of Dutch language and previous teaching experience will be valued.

In addition to the first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €2.960 and €5.439 for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10 or 11). Initially, we offer you a two-year contract, which will then be extended to an open-ended contract if there is mutual enthusiasm.
