Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The research group of Professor Johan Hartman at the Oncology-Pathology department
performs clinical and translational studies for breast cancer, with a special focus on precision
medicine. The aim is to predict the individual patients’ unique treatment response, as well as
to understand the role of tumor heterogeneity and tumor-stromal interactions in breast cancer
disease progression. We have a well-established research platform and organization using a
multitude of histology, genomic and transcriptomic methods in a concerted effort to identify
key factors that lead to drug resistance. In addition, our group work in close collaboration
with worldleading AI-scientists in the field of computational pathology. The successful
candidate will have access to our unique cancer patient datasets and is expected to perform
top-level breast cancer studies together with our collaborators at both KI, KTH, and
SciLifeLaboratory.

Your mission

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc with a strong bioinformatics background to join
our multidisciplinary team of clinicians, bioinformaticians, computer scientists, and biologists.
The postdoc candidate’s main tasks will be clinical sequencing data (both DNA and RNA)
handling such as the calling of somatic mutation and copy number alteration, gene expression
and molecular subtype analysis, and eventually multi-omics data integration including patient
tumor characteristics. You will be involved in the set-up of various pipelines for data analysis,
including both genomic and transcriptomic data. You will be part of a team to perform advanced
analyses on data from cutting-edge single-cell and spatial sequencing platforms.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

Essential requirements:

  • A Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biology, computer
science, or an equivalent quantitative area.
  • Proficiency in a scripting language like R/Python, as well as the ability to work efficiently in
    a Linux command-line environment.
  • Prior experience with DNA-sequencing data (WGS/WES) analysis supported by
publications/manuscripts. Experience with other sequencing data such as RNA-seq and/or
    bisulfite sequencing is a strength.
  • Basic knowledge of molecular/tumor biology and/or oncology and an interest to learn more.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal English).
  • You should be a person who prefers to collaborate and work in a team environment.
  • Good data management and documentation skills.

Desirable competencies:

  • Experience in clinical sequencing data analysis for patient cohort studies, and/or multi-omics
    data integration analysis.
  • Experience in oncology research and/or biostatistics.
  • Experience in cancer-related databases, such as TCGA, COSMIC, dbSNP, etc

What do we offer?
