The research group of Dr. Robert Ohlendorf is seeking Postdoctoral Researchers and PhD Students (m/f/d) to join our growing team at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen, Germany. Our lab combines bioengineering and in vivo imaging to understand molecular signaling that underlies mammalian brain function. The Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics conducts research into the elucidation of cognitive processes in experimental, theoretical and methodological areas and is one of the Max Planck Institutes of the Max Planck Society.

Joining us, you will have the opportunity to develop protein-based and genetic tools for measuring and controlling molecular processes and apply them to study their interplay on a brain-wide level in real-time using optical, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging. Our interdisciplinary approach encourages researchers with different backgrounds to collaborate and develop their skills to bridge molecular, cellular and organismal levels.

Relevant work experience includes molecular biology, protein engineering, cell culture, structural biology, optogenetics, electrophysiology, functional imaging (especially fMRI), in vivo experiments, rodent handling and surgery and programing skills (e.g. Matlab, Python).
