EMBL-EBI’s IT department is on a transformational ITSM journey with a greenfield ServiceNow implementation using the ITIL framework, and is seeking a talented ServiceNow Developer with an enthusiasm for delivering top-notch software solutions. As a ServiceNow Developer, your responsibilities will include developing, configuring and customising the platform according to business requirements. You will work closely with other IT teams and stakeholders to understand their needs, design and build solutions using best practices and programming techniques, and support them.

The successful candidate will work in the Web Development team alongside a Senior ServiceNow Developer, and should possess both independent and collaborative working abilities.

Your role

  • Developing, configuring, and customising the ServiceNow platform to fit business requirements
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritise business requirements
  • Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code
  • Performing peer reviews and quality control checks to ensure efficiency and productivity
  • Debugging and fixing technical problems
  • Producing and running test cases to guarantee software quality
  • Preparing reports for analysis
  • Documenting code and application functionality
  • Supporting user requests and investigating reported bugs
  • Staying abreast of emerging trends and technologies in ServiceNow development

You have

  • Graduate/post-graduate in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of ServiceNow development experience, working in a team, but also independently
  • Certified ServiceNow System Administrator and Implementation Specialist for ITSM
  • Proficiency with ServiceNow development, scripting, workflows, and integrations
  • Demonstrable expertise in the IT Service Management (ITSM) module including configuration of knowledge, Service Catalog and Service Portal/Employee Center
  • Experience of version upgrade and PoCs for new features
  • Good understanding of the IT Operations Management (ITOM) discovery module and IntegrationHub
  • Experience developing ServiceNow software solutions using JavaScript, Jelly, Web Services, MYSQL, XML, HTML and CSS
  • Proven ability using Business Rules, Client Scripts, sophisticated UI Policies, Flow Designer, ACLs, Script Includes, and UI Scripts
  • Expertise with REST/SOAP APIs to integrate ServiceNow with other IT systems
  • Experience developing Flows, SubFlows & Actions in Flow Designer
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to gather requirements from stakeholders
  • Strong analysis, problem-solving, multi-tasking and decision-making skills

You might also have

  • Certified Application Developer
  • Background in ITIL, Service Management, Asset Management or IT Management
  • Experience creating ATFs for the ITSM module
  • ITIL Foundation certification is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of Scrum or Agile development methodologies
