Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Participate in the further conceptual and organizational planning of the project
  • Joint and independent data collection, as well as analysis of the data using R
  • Joint and independent preparation of research findings from the project for conference presentations and publications
  • Pursuit of personal academic qualification (Ph.D.): Development of an individual concept for a dissertation preferably related to the subject matter of the project; working on the doctoral project
  • Administrative tasks within the scope of the project.

Your qualifications:

We are looking for someone with interest and expertise in political communication, particularly in the areas of terrorism, extremism, or conflict research. Additionally, you should have some experience in experimental research and media effects research, for example, through method seminars or your BA/MA-thesis.

Moreover, you should be familiar with quantitative methods of empirical social sciences and basic procedures of data analysis for social science data. Ideally, you have prior knowledge in R or are willing to learn it. Finally, an interest in or even some experience with methods of computational social science would be beneficial to contribute effectively to the integration of both sub-projects.

Applicants should have a good command of both German and English languages and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Due to the international composition of the consortium, English is the working language of the project.

Applicants should hold a master’s degree or equivalent qualification or be Ph.D. candidates in the field of communication studies or related disciplines (social sciences, (media/social) psychology, sociology, etc.).

The position will be classified according to TV-L, salary group E 13. It is a part-time position with 75% of the regular working hours. The position is limited to three years, but we endeavor to provide continued employment for project staff.
