We are now looking for a Principal research engineer in neurophysiology for a fixed-term position of approximately two months.

The position

In your future work, you will investigate the role of the peripheral nervous system in pain and touch perception. The work will be carried out in a translational somatosensory laboratory at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN). Your tasks will include:

  • Analyzing data from single-unit afferent recordings using microneurography.
  • Analyzing data from psychophysical experiments on touch and pain.
  • Writing and submitting research papers.

The person we need

We are looking for someone with a PhD in neurophysiology or a related field, strong quantitative skills, a reasonable track record, and an enthusiastic approach to resarch.

The following education, experience and expertise are required:

  • In-depth understanding of primary sensory afferents’ physiology and peripheral coding mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in electrophysiological and psychophysical data analysis.
  • Previous experience in studying how tactile and pain information is encoded in the afferent neuron firing patterns.

In addition, the following education, experience and expertise will strengthen an application:

  • Experience in assisting in the collection of single-unit afferent recordings using microneurography.

The position requires fluency in both spoken and written English. As a person, you are meticulous, self-motivated and take initiative. Furthermore, you are responsible, committed and have good communication and collaboration skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.

The workplace

You will be employed at the Center for Social and Affective Neuroscience (CSAN), in Saad Nagi’s research group.

The Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV) is one of the university’s largest departments with affiliation mainly within the Faculty of Medicine. Our goal is to conduct education and research in medicine and biomedicine, with a high international quality. The employment

Full-time, special fixed-term employment approximately 2 months.
