Applications are invited for the post of Senior Careers Adviser (Medicine & Health Sciences) within the Careers and Employability Service. The successful candidate will be joining a large service which is committed to working together to combine the skills, insights and experience of teams working directly with students, academics, employers and other stakeholders, with those of our enabling teams to develop and deliver a consistently high level of service and professional standards.

The role holder will work in partnership across the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences which comprises the Schools of Medicine, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine & Science, to engage with the education and student experience to deliver expert services which advance the graduate prospects and outcomes of our students and graduates. This encompasses all aspects of student facing work including quick queries and individual guidance interviews and supporting the Faculty Team with the development of effective programmes of career development learning within academic departments. 

Candidates should be flexible and innovative, seeking to empower students and engage proactively with service, academic schools and professional services across the university. They should have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and should be able to work independently, whilst remaining connected to the activities of the wider team and contributing at a service level. 

The Careers and Employability Service, Faculty and University has links to employers across a broad range of sectors and the role holder will be expected to take an active part in supporting these relationships, sharing sector insights and expertise and developing opportunities for the students where applicable. 

Emphasis is placed particularly upon high standards of professional practice and the role holder’s ability to deliver education, information and guidance to undergraduate and postgraduate UK and international students and graduates. The ideal candidate will also have some experience and interest in working in relevant subject areas, particularly in the field of Life Sciences such as Biology and Zoology.  The role will involve occasional evening and weekend work, according to the needs of the Faculty and the Service.
