The SBD department trains and collaborates with the research community in developing and managing partnerships between the university and external stakeholders, with the objective of increasing the university’s societal impact. We do this supporting the organization in acquiring public funding and developing and managing public private partnerships. For our Project Management Office (PMO), we are seeking for an experienced member to strengthen our team.

As Team Leader you take a forefront role in the development and support of our project managers, who work next to UT coordinators of (externally) funded projects. Importantly, you are responsible for managing the team in line with the goals of funding acquisition and public-private partnership development. For this you will coordinate actively with the other team leaders (Grants and Impact Development), as part of the SBD management team.

The PMO team (consisting of ten professionals) has developed itself into a key player in many strategic and large-scale programs and (international) projects. The team is proficient in various project management skills and methods; they share their knowledge within the department for collective learning and further supporting of the UT community.

As Team Leader you have the following role and responsibilities:

  • Facilitating project managers workflow, including being sparring partner for team and its members on individual project progress (including risks, issues during projects, etc);
  • Assuring alignment of project managers work with funding and corporate partnership goals of SBD, in attunement with other team leaders and directors of SBD;
  • Facilitating intake of acquired projects and setting the project management service agreement with clients;
  • Planning project management capacity and deployment in projects;
  • Building and maintaining internal relationships with relevant stakeholders and project managers within the UT community.

More specifically, in your (daily) work you are active in:

  • Daily management and coaching of the team members (taking care of the HR aspects, including personal development, well-being and annual reviews);
  • Leading team development and coordinating team-wide projects;
  • Developing good cooperation with the other teams within SBD (in close coordination with Impact Development and Grants Office team leaders) and relevant UT partners (including financial and legal departments);
  • Departmental operations and strategy (as member of the SBD management team).

YOUR PROFILE

  • You are a team player, striving to contribute to the overall success of the team;
  • You are a people person, with experience in managing professionals and creating a healthy environment for your team;
  • You are a leader with strong interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills;
  • You are able to develop internal and external relationships for successful multidisciplinary collaboration;
  • You are fluent in English (both written and spoken). Proficiency in Dutch is a bonus, though not necessary;
  • You have experience in large-scale projects or corporate programs;
  • You have good understanding of research dynamics and project management structures;
  • You have affinity for research, innovation and technology;
  • You have an academic background (at least a master’s degree or equivalent academic experience).

OUR OFFER

  • We offer a challenging part to full time (32-38 hours) position in an inspiring multidisciplinary and international environment;
  • The successful candidate will be employed for the duration of 1 year with possibilities for a permanent contract afterwards, depending on performance and (match with) departmental goals;
  • Your gross monthly salary can vary between € 4.814,- and € 6.181- depending on your background and relevant experience. This salary is according to scale 12 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. This position is with the prospect of further growth;
  • A minimum of 29 holidays per year in case of full-time employment;
  • Additionally, the University of Twente provides excellent facilities for professional and personal development, an 8% holiday allowance, and an 8,3% end of year bonus.
