Course number and title: HSC406H5S Advanced Written Communication for Health Care

Course description: This course builds on skills developed in HSC300H. Topics include: communication of epidemiological data and of best evidence in medical and health science research. Students learn to think critically about health and science research, interpret complex or contentious evidence from the medical literature, and produce in-depth health information documents in a range of formats. (0.5 FCE)

Salary (In accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement): 

Effective September 1, 2020 – Sessional Lecturer I – $16,979.33 (Y, full course) & $8,489.67 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $17,738.50 (Y, full course) & $8,869.25 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer II – $18,171.15 (Y, full course) & $9,085.58 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer III – $18,603.79 (Y, full course) & $9,301.90 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE). All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay. 

Qualifications: The candidate must have a graduate degree in Biology or related field. The decision on hiring will be based on previous teaching experience in this course or other similar courses, academic qualifications, ability, and suitability for the position.

Description of duties: Normal duties associated with teaching a university course, including preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams, calculation and submission of grades, contact with students by regular office hours.  Completion of all grades (may include make-up exams).
