Course title: ECO204Y5Y Microeconomic Theory and Applications (For Commerce)
Class schedule: Thursdays 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (times subject to change)
Dates of appointment: September 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023 (actual work may extend into May 2023)
Delivery: The mode of instruction for this course is expected to be in-person. However, if this changes for any reason, you will be provided with as much advance notice as possible.
Description of Course: The course uses microeconomics to analyze a variety of issues from marketing and finance to organizational structure. Topics include consumer preferences and behaviour; demand, cost analysis and estimation; allocation of inputs, pricing and firm behaviour under perfect and imperfect competition; game theory and public policy, including competition policy. Business cases are used to connect theory and practice and to highlight differences and similarities between economics and accounting, marketing and finance. [24L]

Estimated Teaching Assistant Support: 253 hours

Position Description: All normal duties related to the design, administration and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; supervision of teaching assistants; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations, including make-up tests; calculation and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular student office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching and mastery of subject area
- Previous experience in teaching this, or related course, at university level
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Economics
- Professional experience in Finance industry
Salary: $16,979.34 at Sessional Lecturer I 1.0 FCE rate (inclusive of vacation pay)
$18,171.15 at Sessional Lecturer II 1.0 FCE rate (inclusive of vacation pay)
Salary rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail, in the event in a discrepancy of rates with this posting.
Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or III in accordance with Article 14:12
