The Department of Organic Chemistry has an extensive research program. This research program covers many areas of experimental and theoretical chemistry including metal catalysis, asymmetric synthesis, as well as several areas of bioorganic chemistry such as carbohydrate chemistry and enzyme chemistry.

Project description
The position will be associated with the project Mistra SafeChem. The candidate will work on the development, testing and evaluation of innovative heterogeneous catalytic processes to synthesize organic molecules. We will apply the principles of green chemistry, with emphasis on prevention of waste, and on atom and energy efficiency.

Main responsibilities
The position involves research in the areas described above, as well as supervision of young students in the lab. The applicant will also be involved in the organization of the lab, revising risk assesments, and coordinating the supply of chemicals. The candidate will contribute with the mainteinance of instruments and other common tasks at the department.

Qualification requirements
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria
The degree must have been completed at latest before the employment decision is made, but no more than three years before the closing date. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances. Special reasons refer to sick leave, parental leave, elected positions in trade unions, service in the total defense, or other similar circumstances as well as clinical attachment or service/assignments relevant to the subject area.

We are seeking exceptionally qualified applicants for this position with a Swedish or an equivalent PhD degree within Materials Chemistry, and with at least 1.5 years of post-doctoral experience. Strong experience in the synthesis and modification of ordered porous materials (zeolites or organic/inorganic hybrid materials such as MOFs, COFs) is required. The candidate must be able to characterize materials with X-ray diffraction, TGA-DSC, ATR-FTIR, electron microscopy and adsorption measurements.  Additionally, the candidate should have experience in synthesis of organic compounds and their characterization using NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and chromatography, and have experience in heterogeneous catalysis. Knowledge in the field of electrochemistry will be considered as a merit.

Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a minimum of two years and a maximum of three years, with the possibility of extension under special circumstances. Start date as soon as possible as per agreement.
