The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.
The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. Your Role…
The postdoctoral researcher position is in the Horizon Europe project PATHS2INCLUDE “European Labour Markets Under Pressure – New Knowledge on Pathways to Include Persons in Vulnerable Situations”. The main tasks will be to identify data sources for cross-country comparison and to conduct analyses to explore determinants of employability and employment status with a specific focus on vulnerable people and the role of digitalization and automation. There are ample opportunities for further contributions. Projects partners are based in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania, and Spain.
The successful candidate will become a member of the Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (CCY) within the Department of Social Sciences. The CCY comprises a multidisciplinary research team that examines the conditions and opportunity structures of growing up against the backdrop of social change and inequalities. It maintains strong links to other institutes and relevant organizations within and beyond the department, both nationally and internationally.
Tasks:
- Conduct quantitative analyses on determinants of employability and employment status with a specific focus on vulnerable people
- Contribute to conceptual overviews and mapping of risk factors
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals
- Present research findings at relevant international conferences
- Contribute to reports, research publications, policy briefs
What we expect from you…
- Excellent Ph.D. degree in sociology or in a related field
- Strong focus on social inequalities and/or labor markets (e.g., inclusion, discrimination, vulnerabilities)
- Experience and strong interest in advanced quantitative research methods (e.g., multi-level models; familiarity with and/or interest in micro-simulation considered an asset)
- Experience with statistical software for quantitative analysis (e.g., R, Stata)
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Fluency in two of the three languages at the university: English, French, German
