Applications are invited for the above post based in the Medical School, School of Medicine, University of Nottingham.

You will provide safety management and support to the Health and Safety Coordinators for the School of Medicine in the effective and pro-active administration of Health and Safety, ensuring alignment with University policy and legal obligations. You will lead on ambitious plans for improvement in health and safety in the School and contribute towards the delivery of an excellent professional service across the School for both teaching and research.

You will have responsibility for safety project management and implementation, stakeholder engagement, and communication. You will review School risks and coordinate reviews and improvements in an effective and efficient manner. You will be a dynamic and effective individual, with the ability to prioritise competing demands to present informed recommendations to senior management together with the ability to implement recommendations. This will include monitoring and reporting on progress against strategic and operational plans and key performance indicators and drafting procedure and arrangement documents in line with University policy. 

You must have a HNC or equivalent, with substantial work experience in a relevant role, or a proven track record with extensive work experience in a relevant technical or scientific role and NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent or willingness to undertake.

You must have proven high level of planning and organisation skills and resource management, Excellent IT skills and proven ability to use management systems, effective written and communication skills, ability to write policies, procedures, Risk Assessments and SOPs and implement these, well-developed understanding of Health & Safety regulations and procedures and the implications of non-compliance on other staff, previous experience of implementing health and safety legislation and developing best practice and ability to provide targeted and competent health and safety advice to a range of users. 

This position is offered on permanent basis. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
