The Natural Resources Department (NRS) of Faculty ITC works with a global network of partners on projects that have a positive impact on the natural environment. With our network, we conduct diverse international education and research projects that enable individuals and organisations to use geo-information and Earth observation technologies for the sustainable management of the environment. We are looking for a Project Officer to join our well-established, professional, international, and energetic team. Your role will help us to maintain and grow our diverse portfolio of research and education projects with our global network partners.
By joining this team, you will contribute to NRS’s funding applications, network development, partnerships, and impact by actively engaging with departmental staff to identify relevant project opportunities, stimulate interest, and form proposal development teams. You will support and guide staff when responding to calls for proposals, in drafting proposals, dealing with Faculty procedures, and liaising with project, financial and legal advisors within the University. You will represent the department and Faculty in external relations with key organisations and networks related to international capacity development (e.g., Dutch Embassies) and in fields of interest to the department (e.g., Board of Horizon Europe Cluster 6, Netherlands Food Partnership). You will coordinate and strategize with the department Management Team on opportunities, challenges, and emerging issues, whilst monitoring the project portfolio of the Department and staff engagement in projects. You will assist staff in identifying project management tasks for new projects, providing guidance on how to handle and report on projects when running, and where scope and interests align, take on some project management roles.
YOUR PROFILE
- Well organised, with strong planning and multi-tasking skills for working to tight deadlines
- Effective communicator and networker with academic staff, partners, and project funding agencies
- Have experience with project proposal development for at least one of the major project funders for the department (European Commission, European Space Agency, NWO and/or Nuffic)
- Knowledge of the “Theory of Change” or other impact models used by relevant project funders
- An interest in global development, sustainability issues, and in general the work field of NRS
- Clear and concise communication in English. Dutch language skills or willingness to learn is an asset
- Experience in running projects consisting of multiple groups or partners will be an asset
- Working experience in or with countries in the Global South will be an asset

- A position for initially one year (for 40 hours per week; part-time arrangements can be negotiated), after which the position can become permanent, subject to a successful evaluation
- Gross monthly salary between € 5,247.- and 6,737.- (depending on experience and qualifications, job profile Project Manager, level 3)
