Assistant Professor of Gut microbiota in pigs, covers all disciplines of food science from raw materials to processing and consumption

Department of Food Science, University of Copenhagen, is recognized for excellence in food research, food science education, and industry collaboration. It covers all disciplines of food science from raw materials to processing and consumption, and is organized in four sections, one of which is the section for “Food Microbiology and Fermentation”, where the position is placed. The effect of feed and food diet on the gut microbiome on the mammalian host continue to be a focus point for the section. The Assistant Professor will conduct research within the effect of different fermented feed interventions on various host health and performance with primary focus on high throughput-sequencing (wet and dry lab) mainly using Oxford Nanopore long-read sequencing, bioinformatics and data integration. The candidate is expected to have experience with all these aspects.

The assistant professor’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within gut microbiota of mammals. To a limited extent this may also include performance of other duties.

Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, internationally competitive research. The ability to attract external funding will be considered together with outreach qualifications. Teaching qualifications are not mandatory but documented teaching qualifications and teaching experience will be considered.
