Associate Professor of Resource Economics, Department of Food and Resource Economics, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen

The Department of Food and Resource Economics, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen invites applications for a position as associate professor within the field of Resource Economics. The position will have a main emphasis on the economics and regulation of natural resources. We are looking for applicants with documented research experience within one or more of the following topics, or topics related to these:

  • The optimal use and regulation of non-renewable resources, such as fossil energy sources and various minerals,
  • The optimal use and regulation of renewable resources, such as fish stocks, forests, wildlife, water, and renewable energy sources,
  • The economics of sustainability, circular economy, and similar concepts,
  • Selection of regulatory instruments for natural resource use under market imperfections,
  • The economics and regulation of global challenges and issues in relation to, e.g., climate change, biodiversity, and plastic.

The associate professor’s duties will primarily include theoretical and empirical research within the above fields, including contributions to collaborative and interdisciplinary work, obligations regarding publication/scientific communication and supervision and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within resource economics. The position may also include other duties, like public sector advisory work.

Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required.

Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, as well as their documented teaching qualifications. Managerial and out-reach qualifications of applicants including ability to attract external funding will also be considered.
