Job Summary

The John Martinson Honors College at Purdue University seeks a research development administrator to support the college’s innovative research initiatives. The position works under limited supervision to coordinate grants awarded by the Honors College to internal and external researchers, supports the development of interdisciplinary research collaborations with faculty from the Honors College, and works with faculty and the dean’s office to increase the external support for faculty-led undergraduate research. This position provides grant writing assistance, fosters the development of new collaborative relationships, and works with the associate dean of research to increase the visibility and impact of the Honors College research enterprise.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer grants awarded by the Honors College to internal and external researchers
  • Work with faculty, students, and staff researchers to create and foster interdisciplinary research collaborations
  • Identify and analyze funding opportunities relative to Honors College faculty, staff, and students
  • Offer grant writing assistance to individual faculty members or teams of faculty members.  This may include writing non-technical sections of proposals and compiling and editing drafts.  Assures relevant regulations and policies are identified and addressed
  • Offer or coordinate workshops on research grants and other related opportunities to faculty, staff, students

Required:

  • Ph.D. in any field
  • One (1) year of grant writing experience
  • In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
  • Knowledge of external funding landscape and ability to identify and analyze relevant funding opportunities
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex scholarly ideas to a wide variety of audiences
  • Ability to work in an environment with limited supervision under tight deadlines

Preferred:

  • Experience with undergraduate researchers
  • Multiple years of grant writing experience
  • Experience developing proposals from interdisciplinary faculty groups
  • Track record of building teams among key stakeholders
