At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of the Built Environment (BUILD), a position as postdoc in socio-technical aspects of sustainability and practice is open for appointment in the Division of Town, Housing and Property for three years. The position is open from 01.01.2023 in Copenhagen The Department of the Built Environment is Denmark’s largest department in construction, civil engineering, and the built environment. The research at BUILD is rooted in the field of engineering, but it also contains important and comprehensive elements from the social sciences and the humanities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The position is available in the Sustainable Cities and Everyday Practice Research Group (SCEP) at the Division of Town, Housing and Property. The research group deals with everyday life and sustainability​, household consumption patterns​, smart technologies and urban sustainability among others.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong profile within the intersection between the materiality of buildings and their use with a focus on indoor climate, building operation and digitization of buildings. The candidate must also have a strong methodological background in qualitative and visual methods and be able to work in research across different disciplines and methods. Finally, it is an advantage with good skills in communication. 

The work involves research, including the development of research ideas, fundraising and management of research projects, teaching and dissemination. As the primary funding comes from external sources, graduates must be flexible and ready to assist in projects on the edge of their professional core competencies. The department employs researchers with various disciplinary backgrounds, e.g. architects, anthropologists, sociologists, geographers, engineers and so on.

Qualification requirements
We expect you to be interested in cities, housing and construction, including contributing to improvements to the built environment from a social and technical perspective. Relevant experiences with social complications in connection with implementation of technical solutions is desired.

You must be able to work both independently and in collaboration with other employees, public authorities, interest organizations and representatives of the construction sector in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Appointment as post.doc. presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD level or similar scientific qualifications. An evaluation committee will evaluate the research potential of each applicant.

Candidates should have the ability to work in a team as well as independently and be good at networking. The candidate must have excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
