YOUR TEAM
You’d be working in a multi-disciplinary group, where experts in neurophysiology, biophysics and biotechnology collaborate to carry out the research.
The Neurofacility supports research of several Principal Investigators (PIs) in neuroscience and, in general, in the area of life science. The Neurofacility is an open, collaborative, multicultural and multi-disciplinary group of neuroscientists, biologists, biotechnologists, pharmacologists, physicists, and engineers.
The selected candidate for this position will support mainly the Synaptic Plasticity of Inhibitory Networks (SPIN) Research Line coordinated by Andrea Barberis. SPIN focuses on excitatory and inhibitory synaptic plasticity and on the role of dendritic synaptic architecture in the network functioning.
We are seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Support Technician with excellent competencies in molecular biology and neuronal sample preparation.
Within the team, your main responsibilities will be to support research with:
• Basic molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA preparation and manipulation, genotyping)
• Preparation of primary neuronal cultures, maintenance of immortalized cell lines
• Immunohistochemistry approaches (including microtome / cryostat cutting)
• Participation in key aspects of general lab management and organization (e.g., place orders, management and inventory of samples, reagents, equipment and materials, workspace organization).
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
• A Degree in Biology or closely related areas.
• Proactive attitude and results-oriented mindset.
• Propensity to learn.
• A good knowledge of English.
• Good interpersonal and communications skills and willingness to integrate in an international research team.
WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU SHINE
• Experience with molecular cloning.
• Knowledge of PCR and qRT-PCR.
• Experience with immunohistochemistry.
• Experience with stereotaxic injections.
