YOUR TEAM
You would be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where cognitive neuroscientists and engineers collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research.
The Social Cognition in Human-Robot Interaction (S4HRI) Research line is coordinated by Agnieszka Wykowska, who has extensive experience in cognitive neuroscience and human-robot interaction.
The research focuses on examining mechanisms of social cognition (e.g., joint attention, spatial perspective taking) involved in interactions with humanoid robots (the iCub robot specifically). With objective methods of cognitive neuroscience (EEG, eye tracking, performance measures) we determine patterns of brain activity in interactions with iCub.
Within the team, your main responsibilities will be:
- developing software for supporting experiments in human-robot interaction
- supporting for the management and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- assisting researchers in their scientific activities
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- A master’s degree in software engineering, robotics or computer science.
- High interest in human-robot interaction.
- Excellent programming skills in C++/Python (multi-thread programming, inter-process communication, network programming).
- Fluency in operating on GNU/Linux OS.
- Knowledge of version control software (Git).
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
- Good communication skills and the ability to integrate within a multidisciplinary international research group.
- The ability to properly report, organize and publish research data
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- A PhD in robotics or any related fields
- Knowledge of YARP/ROS robotics middleware
- Good communication skills
- Strong problem solving attitude
- High motivation to learn
- Spirit of innovation and creativity
- Good in time and priority management
- Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
