YOUR TEAM

The candidate will work within the Nanotechnology for Precision Medicine Research Line, under the direct supervision Prof. Paolo Decuzzi, in a multicultural and multidisciplinary group where engineers, physicists, chemists, computational scientists, biotechnologists, molecular and cancer biologists closely collaborate to develop novel and more effective drug delivery systems with broad clinical indications (https://www.iit.it/web/nanotechnology-for-precision-medicine). The candidate will also conduct part of the research activities at secondment sites in Europe, Israel, and US.

The research activities will focus on the fabrication and physico-chemical characterization of polymeric drug delivery systems, including implantable microPLates and microMESH, for the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases and cancer. These activities will impact all or some of the ongoing EU projects, including the MSCA MEPHOS “Shaping the Mechano-Pharmacological properties of Microparticles and Extracellular Vesicles for the Treatment of Osteoarthritis”, MSCA MINDED “MultIscale precision therapies for NeuroDEvelopmental Disorders”, and the ERC PoC “microMESH”.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD in Engineering, Pharmaceutical Technology, Biotechnology or similar disciplines;
  • Documented experience in the fabrication, development, and physico-chemical characterizations of nanoparticles and microparticles for drug delivery
  • Strong publication record (2+ first author manuscripts on well recognized internationally peer-reviewed journals)
  • Ability to properly report, organize and publish research data
  • Documented experience in coaching junior scientists
  • Good command of spoken and written English
