The Department of Physiology is recruiting a sessional lecturer to teach in PSL425H (approximately 24% of the teaching load for the course).

Course number and title:  PSL425/1425H – Integrative Metabolism and its Endocrine Regulation

Course description:  PSL425/1425H is an undergraduate and graduate oourse that covers current perspectives on metabolism and its endocrine regulation and emphasizes the potential of the endocrine and metabolic field of investigation in obesity and diabetes research. The goal is to integrate the newest findings and experimental approaches from cellular and molecular areas into metabolic function at the tissue, organ and whole-body level.

Estimated course enrolment:  35 undergraduates

TA support:  1 TA

Class schedule:  During the scheduled Arts and Science fall term, with lectures Fridays 10-11am (graduate studens only) and 11-1pm (both undergraduate and graduate).  Dual delivery format: A combination of synchronous delivery is currently planned.

Sessional dates of appointment:  September to December 2022

Salary:  $2,037.52 teaching + $469.20 marking (inclusive vacation pay)

Minimum qualifications:  PhD in physiology with experience as a post-doctoral researcher in the field of integrative metabolism and its endocrine regulation.

Preferred qualifications: Lecturing experience at the university level would be an asset.

Description of duties:

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content (7 hours of lectures) under the supervision of the course director, office hours (2 hours) marking student presentations (4 hours), marking grad final papers (8 hours), and other duties as required.
