Position Description

The Department of Computer Science within the Faculty of Science invites applications for an ISEC 643 Sessional Instructor in the Fall 2022 term.

The successful candidate will have responsibilities for instruction and associated duties for this 3-unit course during the Fall 2022 term, including the supervision and direction of teaching assistants that will teach the tutorial sections.

Information Security and Privacy – Policies, Standards and Programs
Development of security and privacy policies. Policy compliance and enforcement in various legislative frameworks. Policy considerations for social engineering and insider attacks. Information security and privacy standards. Security/privacy awareness and training programs. Development of Privacy Impact Assessments.

Fall 2022 Term Dates:  Monday, August 29, 2022 – Friday, December 23, 2022

Teaching Schedule:    The course will run from Tuesday, September 6, 2022 – Friday, September 30, 2022, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Position will commence Monday, August 8. 

Lecture: Sept 6-9 (T-F) 9:00-17:00, Sept 26 (M) 9:00-17:00

This course will be offered as a one-week module, with students submitting additional work later in September, exact date to be determined by instructor in conjunction with Graduate Program director.

Students will participate in a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction for the entire duration of the month. Please refer to your Course Outline for further scheduling details.

***The ongoing COVID-19 situation may require an online delivery of some or all the course components, however, we anticipate that this course will be delivered in-person at this time.

Qualifications:    Qualifications of particular interest are professional experiences in applying relevant frameworks (e.g. NIST) and standards (e.g. ISO) to multiple organizational levels including technical teams, front-line management, and c-suite decision makers; understanding of various competing standards and their appropriate application; knowledge of applicable standards and frameworks relevant to both digital security and privacy; knowledge about frameworks/standards that are applied in specific domains is an asset. Demonstrated experience/knowledge of the development of policy both in the private and public environments. An ability to set the legal and regulatory issues within ethical frameworks is important
