MGEC06H3 – Topics in Macroeconomic Theory

Course Description:

Continuing development of the principles of macroeconomic theory. The course will build on the theory developed in MGEB06H3/(ECMB06H3). Topics will be chosen from a list including consumption theory, investment, exchange rates, rational expectations, inflation, neo-Keynesian economics, monetary and fiscal policy. Enrolment is limited to students registered in programs requiring this course.

Qualification:

Preferred qualifications (in addition to minimum): Academic record of recent macroeconomic research. Previous experience in teaching a similar course at the undergraduate (university) level. Previous experience using pedagogical practices that promote active learning at the undergraduate (university) level.  

Minimum qualifications:

Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidacy in economics. Demonstrated teaching excellence, currency in and mastery of the subject area.

In considering qualified applicants, teaching excellence, currency in and mastery of subject area; previous experience in teaching a similar course at undergraduate (university) level or similar environment; several years related professional experience shall be the criteria used in the selection of the most qualified candidate in accordance with Article 14:12.

Classes will be in-person and run as follows:

Tuesday, September 6, 2022 to Monday December 5, 2022.

Exams:

Thursday, December 8, 2022 to Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

Note: All positions involve the completion of all course grading. You must be available throughout the exam period (in December) as exams are scheduled centrally and individual preferences for exam times/dates cannot always be accommodated.

Salary: The Sessional Lecturer I rate of pay will be $8,489.66 for a half course inclusive of vacation pay.  Sessional Lecturer I-Long Term $8,869.25 for a half course inclusive of vacation pay. Sessional Lecturer II rate of pay will be $9,085.57 for a half course inclusive of vacation pay.  Sessional Lecturer III rate of pay will be $9,301.89 for a half course inclusive of vacation pay.
