The Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne is are looking for a BTA Technician / Lab Manager (m/f/d)

The position is available from August 1, 2022.

Project description

A BTA position is available in the Hancock Laboratory. Research in the lab is aimed at understanding the genetic basis of plant traits. Approaches used in the lab include NGS sequencing, trait-mapping using natural and recombinant populations, functional molecular analysis, computational modeling and population genetic analysis. The BTA will be responsible for ordering, managing and maintaining biological resources (seed stocks), preparing samples for DNA sequencing, assisting in the production of recombinant populations, and supporting large-scale phenotyping projects and functional analyses with CRISPR/Cas9 mutants.

Our requirements

A BTA certification or Master’s degree in biology is required. The ideal candidate has molecular biology experience and experience working with plants, is highly organized and detail-oriented. The working language of the laboratory is English and strong English language skills are essential. The initial contract will be for one year with the possibility of extension.
